The Meteora is an incredible formation of sandstone pillars in Greece that are home to several monasteries. A big part of what makes these monasteries so special is that they were carved out of the pillars themselves. It”s almost as if building monasteries on top of a 370 metres high rock formation wasn”t difficult enough, so the monks decided to give themselves even more of a challenge. If that was the goal, mission accomplished.
In all seriousness though, these monasteries are absolutely beautiful. It”s no wonder they”ve been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Tourists visiting the amazing monasteries.
Wow. What kind of tools did those monks have access to?
What a breathtaking view.

It”s a good thing those monks were always praying to the heavens, because I can”t imagine looking down would have served them well. If you want to get a closer look at these beautiful rock buildings, why not say at the hotel? Can”t get any closer than that.
