It seems like a common and unfortunate side effect of growing old is finding that people become less and less eager to spend time with you. For our four-legged friends, that can mean being tossed aside and abandoned by careless owners.
When they end up in shelters, older dogs often spend their last days waiting for someone to take them home and give them comfort.
Foster Dogs NYC is hoping to change that and some bring much-needed attention to the senior pups” sweet faces.
Their Fospice program supports the fostering of elderly and other dogs with short life expectancies.
The program provides foster parents with perks like a watercolor portrait, a fancy dog bed, a locally-made rope leash, a photo shoot, and more.
Their first case was back in July 2013, with this pretty girl named Daisy.
Since then, they”ve continued to sponsor around five dogs a year.
Their website details each adorable success story as well as lists those currently waiting for homes.
They also support other groups and organizations who provide care for aging cuties.
When the time comes for a foster parent to say goodbye to their fuzzy friend, the site posts a heartwarming memorial in their honor.
The program relies on the help of donations in order to provide the best life for as many of these beautiful dogs as possible.
